Tania Hungerford
Tania has been working with the medium of clay for most of her life. As a student at a Waldorf school in Germany, Tania majored in sculpture. After completing high school she moved to Australia, where she undertook an apprenticeship as a ceramic artist and worked in the field of functional pottery for 9 years. During these years she lived on a biodynamic farm, took part in study groups and became a founding member of the Boongaiai Steiner School in Armidale, NSW. On moving to Melbourne she wanted to deepen her knowledge in what underlies anthroposophy, and studied teacher training at the Melbourne Teacher Training Seminar. Furthermore, she studied a 3 year sculpture component at Aurora Australis (School of Eurythmy). As a sculptor, in 1994/95 she worked in Germany with Georg Schumacher and in Australia with Aludean (2004). For the past 14 years Tania has been teaching in adult education, in particular clay modeling and ‘form drawing’ at the Melbourne Rudolf Steiner Seminar. She has taken particular interest in the therapeutic aspects of clay, in curriculum activities and in self development exercises.
Tania has given workshops on many occasions to many different interest groups. Clay Workshops that focus on the artistic support of the primary and high school curriculum, on understanding formative forces in nature, on the support of our etheric through clay work and on understanding anthroposophical aspects through a tangible medium. Form drawing workshops that focus on classroom work and the support of our senses (for example sense of movement, balance, life) as well as fostering flexibility in our thinking and developing imagination.
On another note, Tania has been a parent and partner for more than 20 years. She has studied counselling, completed the Biography Counselling Training as well as the Bachelor of Social Science (Counselling). She is currently also working as the student counsellor at the Melbourne Rudolf Steiner Teacher Training Seminar.
